Latens was founded in 2002 to address a technological and business need in the Conditional Access/DRM market.
We could see that Conditional Access (CA)/DRM suppliers were falling behind operator business model developments, and smartcard systems, which were the norm, were increasingly becoming susceptible to piracy. In addition, traditional suppliers were content to sell smart cards on a sell-and-move on basis, ignoring the opportunity to develop close business partnerships with the operator.
Latens approach has always been rooted in the objective to collaborate in a long term partnership with its customers, working alongside them to enable their business. As a result Latens has developed strong partnerships with its customers, developing further innovative products to enable their businesses, while at the same time continuing to offer quality service to our customers - relationships that continue today.
Latens success has been reflected in the number of prestigious industry awards it has won, The Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Deloitte Fast 500 technology award and Belfast Telegraph Business Award. In November 2010 Latens was acquired by The Pace Group.
What does Latens CAS/DRM offer the operator?
As a provider of the only fully DVB compliant CA/DRM for cable, IPTV, DTH and DTT, Latens has a solution for all broadcasting segments. Latens solutions protect content be it linear broadcasting, OTT TV or catch up TV services. This means that as operators expand, from say Cable, into hybrid networks (Cable and IP) and OTT TV services, Latens can continue to protect their content with a single CA/DRM installation from a central headend without the need to install a new system, they already have it.
Latens is headquartered in Belfast UK, with offices in Hyderabad, India and Atlanta, USA.
